Maintain Fresh Air Without Complicated Mechanisms
Proper ventilation makes the difference between a great sauna and a stuffy box. This simple sliding vent gives you precise airflow control.
Specs:
- Overall Dimensions: 15" L x 6" H x 1/2" W
- Opening Size: 12" L x 3" H x 1/2" W
- Material: Hemlock (matches most sauna interiors)
How It Works: Simple sliding mechanism lets you adjust fresh air outlet. Closed = maximum heat retention. Open = fresh air circulation. Most people run it partially open during sessions for continuous fresh air without heat loss.
Why Ventilation Matters: Every well-built saunas needs air exchange. Without it, oxygen levels drop and CO2 builds up. You'll feel light-headed before the sauna even reaches proper temperature. A vent near the heater (low) pulls fresh air in while heat escapes through your outlet vent on the opposite side of the sauna. This creates gentle circulation that keeps air fresh without drafts.
Installation Note: Typically installed under the upper bench, ~30" off the ground opposite of the inlet vent (which should be near the ground by the heater). Position allows cool air to be drawn in, warm as it passes the heater, and circulate naturally. If you're DIY-building, plan vent location during framing.
Made from: Clear hemlock to match common sauna interiors.
